IBM and NTNU invites you to NTNU’s fourth ITovation event – ISFITovation at Realfagbygget on NTNU’s Gloshaugen campus, 3-7 pm, 26 February 2009.

ISFITovation will address how high tech should contribute to an improved global environment and peace. Since The International Student Festival in Trondheim, ISFIT, is being held at the same time as Itovation, we thougt why not bring these two together. ISFIT is a thematic student festival with an aim to gather students from all over the world. It  is arranged every second year. ISFiT 2009 will take place between February 20 and March 1.  Theme for ISFIT this year is “Building a future”, which suits our aim for ISFITovation to address environment and peace.

Preliminary Programme

Main speaker: Larry Hirst, Chairman of IBM Europe, Middle East and Africa:

Building a smarter planet
IBM’s vision is to bring a new level of smart to how the world works — how every person, business, organization, government, natural system, and man-made system interacts. Each interaction represents a chance to do something better, more efficiently, more productively.  But more than that, as the systems of the planet become smart, we have a chance to open up meaningful new possibilities for progress.

To learn more about IBM’s work, come to ISFITovation – you can also visit their blog on building a smarter planet or

Director Jørund Buen, PointCarbon, has gotten the following challenge for his contribution at ISFITovation:

How can PointCarbons knowledge, technology and solutions contribute to stabilization, peace and equal energy distribution?
Jørund Buen is one of three co-founders of PointCarbon. Jørund studied political science at NTNU and co-founded PointCarbon with two friends with Msc in engineering also from NTNU in the year of 2000.

The further programme with presentations of Ph.D-projects and  musical performances and good food will be published shortly.
